Kira’s older sister Stacey sits down to tuck Kira in for the night. “Goodnight, beautiful,” she says. But Kira wants to know more.
“Stacey,” says Kira, “what is it that makes me beautiful?”
“Well,” Stacey says, “besides your pretty hair and your big smile, having good character is what makes you beautiful!”
“What’s character?” Kira asks.
And so begins Kira’s introduction to the idea that good character makes us beautiful, and she learns just how beautiful she really is.

Sherri-Anne Forde grew up like many of us, influenced by the pervasive belief that physical appearance is of utmost importance. As an adult, she embarked on a mission to create a book aimed at teaching children about the essence of genuine beauty coming from the inside rather than the outside.
