Katy has a deep realization that the circus is no place for an elephant when she looks into the eyes of Rayna. Katy then makes it her mission to help set Rayna free.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I was inspired to wrote this book after my own realization of how the animals were being treated in the circus. I became very passionate about spreading the word and informing others about the cruelty behind the circus. Then one day the idea came to me to write a children's book that explains to children why circuses are no fun for animals.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I knew I wanted the story to be about an elephant in the circus after learning how elephants never forget and how intelligent they are. Her name is Rayna because in spanish the word "reina" means queen and I believe elephants are very majestic creatures.

Rayna was an elephant who lived in the circus.
Every day, thousands of people from all over the world would come see her perform.
Rayna was amazing!
She could do cartwheels, balance on balls, even stand on her head!
She was always the star of the show.
The crowd loved her! And they always came back for more.
Rayna enjoyed seeing her audience smile. She loved to make them laugh!
But deep down inside she was very sad.
Rayna was taken from the jungle when she was just a baby.
She was brought to the circus to perform tricks and stunts that she had never done before.
