What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Growing up, I loved visiting other people’s houses, especially older houses: they always had such a sense of story and place to me as soon as I walked in! I could feel this energy, this potential in older houses, that when I could always on the brink of adventure. And for me, there was one thing – no matter where the house was, or who lived there – one thing that was the ultimate, definitive guarantee that I was about to start an adventure: hidden doors leading to secret passageways.
There was one house in particular that I used to get to visit once a year as a child. It took me many years to discover it had actual secret doors, and a real secret passageway. It was most important secret passageway discovery of my childhood, and the one that inspired my book, The Secret Doors of Cannondale!
