What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Somewhere along the way, I heard that grit is the personality trait most correlated with success in life. Whether that is true or not, it is undeniably important because it is a driver of achievement and success, independent and beyond what talent and intelligence contribute. Without grit, talent may be nothing more than unmet potential While playing boardgames with my oldest son I came to the realization that games were a fantastic sandbox to learn many important life skills, including grit and I began to have conversations with him about the value of determination and the power of 'yet'.
Through this story, my hope is to inspire everybody to achieve their own capacity for greatness through grit. It is my hope that this book fosters a conversation about the belief that failure can be overcome.

Daddy understood his pain.
He paused a moment – then explained,
“Son, I’ve played this game for years.
I’ve lost my share. And shed some tears.
There’s a lesson in the losing.
Your response is your own choosing.
Mom's next words kept him going –
helped him see that he was growing.
“Remember kid, you weren’t born talking.
At twelve months you started walking.
When you fell, you weren’t done.
First you crawl. Then walk. Then run.
It all happens bit by bit.
But you never get there if you quit.
So when you say, ‘I can’t do it.’
Don’t forget

With any passion you pursue
your success is up to you.
Whatever you may want to be,
