What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wanted to create a story that was interesting for children to read but at the same time, teaches them something about the Chinese New Year and its customs. The Chinese translation helps kids read it with their Chinese parents or grandparents. Unlike other books on the Chinese New Year, I included a mix of colorful illustrations and photographs.

Author Bio:
Hi! I'm Jillian, the author of children's books about the history and culture of China, even though I live all the way Down Under.
I'm also a mother of two, and my children are the main reason I started writing books. When they were still little, I had to delve into my Chinese roots for a family reunion. That's when I stumbled on the most amazing stories about the emperors, warriors, artists, and inventors that make up the long and colorful culture and history of China.
Inspired, I decided to bring these stories to life, so that my kids could learn more about their Chinese heritage. No dates, no dry details–just interesting stories that they could read and hopefully, learn a fact or two in the process. I hope you'll enjoy my books, too!
