Did you ever think that your new outdoor critter friends would get along so well with your pets? Now that you have several outdoor critter friends, did you ever think about adding more? If your outdoor friends live outdoors, why does it matter how many you have?
What began as a tale of a family with three pets: a retired racehorse, a cat, and a greyhound dog grew by adding five new critters: a mink, a Kai Ken dog, a rabbit, a Mandarin duck, and a cardinal bird. The Critter Family: Exploring the Shenandoah! is a continuing tale about a family who moved from New York to Virginia with three pets and never imagined adding more critters to the family.
All the Dunn family members gathered at their new home in Virginia and were excited about their new critter friends. NOW the family decides to take a vacation to the Shenandoah Valley, and they continue to add seven more for a total of 15 critters. A simple move from New York turns into an active family with many critter helpers and unpredictable happenings. This is the second book in The Critter Family series.
Plus, you will find that each chapter concludes with a real description page and a story character description page to enlighten young readers of the difference between fact and fiction of each critter.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The Critter Family series expands on people's love of animals by giving you an opportunity to enjoy a plethora of critters in one family. This book series is about a family that moved from NY to VA with 3 pets, a retired racehorse, a greyhound dog, and a cat only to find over the 3 books that they inadvertently add critters to this growing critter family. It's a multi-generational series with fun loving antics.
Chris turned to get the critters just as Mako and Stretch ran past the truck, past the cabin, and out of sight.
Chris yelled, “Mako, Stretch, get back here!”
Chris told Todd, “There better be a good reason for this! Let’s go!”
Chris and Todd ran past the cabin to see what was going on. They were amazed at the sight. Fifer Fox was leading a herd of deer down the road from the Mountain Lodge. Mako and Stretch ran to join the herd.
Todd yelled back to the vehicles, “Hey everyone, come here! You have to see this!”
Wendy and Allie jumped out of the SUV. Megan and Brody ran to catch up with Dad and Todd.
Dad said, “Don’t even think about it! None of those deer are coming back with us! I don’t know what Fifer Fox thought he was doing, but Fifer can say his goodbyes now or he can stay here!”
Natty laughed saying, “Relax, Chris. Fifer Fox probably told his friends that he was moving away. They are coming to say goodbye and send him off.”
Natty turned to the kids and said, “Focus to putting the critters into the vehicles. We need to do it quickly or another one will run off. I’m certain that we’ll bring Fifer back here when we visit Hank. Fifer would be excited to go back to the Mountain Lodge and visit his friends!”
Fifer Fox walked to the truck, turned around, and leapt into the air giving off a loud chirp! The deer herd made a ruckus and nodded their heads saying goodbye. Fifer was happy. He jumped into the truck bed to leave with his new family!
