What inspires you to write?
my 4 children and the wisdom I want to instill in them.
love of children and teaching.
Tell us about your writing process
Every night I read a book to each of my children and I whisper the “words” (a secret chant that encompasses all the wisdom I want to root in).
Often my kids ask me to invent a new story for them about fairies or heroes or knights or magic children like them.
And quite often I do.
I talk about the hero they want to hear about. But I add the message I want them to absorb:
* the power of love
* how much they are loved
* working hard
* their inner goodness
My stories are not too long, but they leave them with a taste of more and enough to dream about.
How do you think writing for children and young adults is different from writing for an adult audience?
The stories are short and focused, yet made of heroes and ideals.
They represent what we want our children to hear (and we rather not say them directly).
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I mostly listen to my characters
How did you decide how to publish your books?
It’s an old dream and since my motto is “fulfill a dream everyday” – the day of children book writing came for me.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It is all going to ebooks and app books.
