What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Carrie's story was inspired by my own experience growing up. I've taken this opportunity to share a message of empowerment and encouragement I wish I had received when I was younger. As a girl, I've been underestimated and been told there's things that I just couldn't do. Overcoming doubt can be such a challenge and the topic can be rather sensitive so I've set out to show all children they can do anything and be good at whatever it is they desire if they set their mind to it through a tale of baking cupcakes.
The glowing moon traded places with the rising sun and soon enough it was time for school. Carrie had spelling and science, art class and gym. Last of all, it was time for the class Carrie liked the very least – math.
Ms. Chippy assigned Carrie's class a take-home project to be completed after school. Carrie and all her classmates had to create something they love that they could bring in to show and tell. The number one rule was the creation must be related to math!
Carrie started to ponder and realized she was going to have to think extra hard to come up with a creation for her project. Math was her least favorite subject after all.

My name is Michelle Parmigiani and I'm the premier author of New Jersey-based children's publisher, Fifth & Zilai. I've lived in northern New Jersey all my life and while I've always had big city dreams, I choose to chase them from the small town where I grew up and continue to reside. I've always loved to write and have written in many forms for varying outlets but I must say, writing children's books is among my favorite task to date. Aside from writing, I love fashion, I love to bake, and I love my English bulldog puppy, Prada Penelope.
