How did you decide to create a trailer and what was your experience?
Since my book is written for younger children, I thought that trailer would be helpful for them and their parents to evaluate the book. I used Microsoft movie maker to create the trailer and the tool was pretty simple to use. I selected a classical music to avoid any copyright issues (downloaded from the internet) and picked a number of illustrations from the book to include in the trailer. I wanted to keep my trailer short so it took me some time to find the right balance between the number of pictures, transitions and readability of the text.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My daughter has been playing and studying chess for years, and over time it helped her succeed in many chess and non-chess activities. Chess is a great game that develops strategic, analytical and decision making skills, and I think a lot of kids would enjoy the game while ripping the educational benefits. Over the years I have seen a lot of instructional chess books for kids and adults but didn’t come across a book for young children that has a chess theme but without instructional element. I decide to fill the void, and I hope that my book, An Evening With Grandpa, will get more children to pick up a chess set and start playing.
