What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’m currently working on a series of children’s books which is a collaboration between myself and illustrator Kathryn Short
We came up with the idea to write and illustrate a series that would be called ‘ Little Bedtime Stories’
Short and easy to read books for bedtime that either parents can spend ten minutes reading to their child as part of the bedtime routine or for early readers to be able to read themselves in bed
Each book in the series has or will have the word ‘Little’ in the title
This is the first book form the bedtime series ; published in July 2021
A Little Miracle is a story about a Badger Cub called Barnaby that is experiencing the world outside for the first time as his mother Harriet shows him the miracles of nature in the woodland.
A Little Sleepy which was published in March 2022 follows on from A Little Miracle which is about Dorothy Dormouse trying to hibernate for the winter months but keeps being disturbed by the animals in the woodland that don’t hibernate
The next book in the series is due out later in 2022 and will be titled A Little Shy about a Hedgehog called Henry

“ The moon is up. The moon is up” he called nudging his mother,Harriet, until she opened her eyes.
“Its a little miracle”
Harriet Badger yawned as she stood in their bed-chamber. “What’s a little miracle, Barnaby? “
“The moon,” said Barnaby. “ It appears in the sky every night as soon as it goes dark. But nobody puts it it there. It’s a little miracle”

Author Bio:
R. J. Furness has been passionate about great stories since he was able to read. At an early age, he would frequently create new characters, worlds and creatures, then write crazy tales all about them. However, until now, he has always kept those ideas completely secret.
As well as his love for reading (and writing), R.J. also developed a huge passion for things like Star Wars, Transformers, and as a teenager, Jurassic Park. After having a lifelong interest in animals, music and anything spawned from pure imagination, R.J.’s first love is now his wife and children.
Over time, he has also developed an overwhelming desire for mugs of tea, and good biscuits to dunk. He lives in Southport, England, with his family, a dog and lots of fish, chickens and quails.
